Ensuring that all learners have access to digital content is foundational to the mission of the University of Georgia. Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act Amendments of 1998 applies to all web-based content provided by the higher education institutions and covers things like providing alternative descriptions for digital images or providing captions on videos.

Our instructional design team can provide consultation for making digital content (e.g., HTML, PDF) accessible.

Additionally, The Office of Online Learning has contracted with third party caption providers who can automatically post captions to any video hosted in the UGA provided Kaltura environment for $1.10 per minute with a 2 day turn around time. The academic home of the course will have to pay the captioning cost (with no overhead). To begin this process, please send a request to stephen.bridges@uga.edu
